Recently I have been making this recipe for my family almost every week (it is super simple and not very costly…and the kids LOOOOOOVVVVEEEE it). And I’ve received requests for the recipe and so here it is (enjoy).
300 ml water
800 grams sugar
200 grams unsalted butter (melted and cooled down, tip: do this first)
500 grams powdered milk
100 grams baking coco (unsweetened)
optional: you can add a half teaspoon to a teaspoon of essence (whichever flavor you preffer, in our home we add rum essence or coconut, sometimes we mix coconut with vanila)
1.) Mix the powdered milk with the coco in a large bowl.
2.) Put the water to boil with the sugar in a large pot. Stir the sugar until it dissolves. When it starts to boil it will make a sort of white foam, from this time stir ocassionaly and let it boil over medium heat for about 7 minutes (if you want a harder chocolate instead of sofer let it boil longer…personaly I like it softer)
3.) When the water with the sugar has finished boiling, turn off the heat and add all of the powdered milk and coco mixture stiring fast (the mixture will harden quickly if not and will be harder to mix). then add the melted and cooled down butter and if you want whichever essence (flavor) you choose.
4.) After you have mixed the ingredients thoroughly pour the mixture into a deep and long pan quickly (remember the mixture can harden fast and would be harder to pour if you wait).
OPTIONAL: Some preffer to also add chopped walnuts once the mixture has been poured into the pan.
5.) Put the mixture in the refrigerator to cool for about 2-3 hours or until it hardens.
6.) Enjoy!!!! (Then perhaps go excercise a bit so that you don’t feel too guilty from eating this.
